# Artificial Intelligence Handbook for Educators > A theoretical and practical guide to using AI responsibly in education. Maurício Garcia · June 2026 [Read online](https://edukors.org/book/read/). The book is also available as PDF, ePub and MCP from the reader's download menu. ## Technology in the service of a pedagogical ideal The core book of Edukors starts from an old educational ideal: placing the student at the center of learning, favoring thinking over memorization and combining practice with theoretical depth. It opens with a historical overview of education, from Socrates to the present day, to show that what is needed for a transformative education has been known for centuries. The first part presents the technologies: the history and types of artificial intelligence, generative AI, and prompt and context engineering. The second shows pedagogy empowered by AI: planning, personalization, adaptive, competence-based and challenge-based learning, assessment, educational chatbots and the ethical and legal challenges. The conclusion is that artificial intelligence is today a concrete way to return to that path, at scale. ## Chapters **Opening** - [0.0 Cover](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_00_cover.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=0.0) - [0.1 Dedication](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_01_dedication.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=0.1) - [0.2 Notices](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_02_disclaimer.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=0.2) - [0.3 About the Author](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_03_about.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=0.3) - [0.4 Introduction](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_04_introduction.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=0.4) **Part 1 - Technologies in the Service of Education** - [1.1 History of AI](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_11_history.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=1.1) - [1.2 Types of Artificial Intelligence](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_12_types.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=1.2) - [1.3 Generative AI](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_13_generative.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=1.3) - [1.4 Prompt Engineering](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_14_prompt.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=1.4) - [1.5 Context Engineering](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_15_context.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=1.5) **Part 2 - Pedagogy Empowered by AI** - [2.1 Planning](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_21_planning.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.1) - [2.2 Personalization](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_22_personalization.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.2) - [2.3 Adaptive Learning](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_23_adaptive.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.3) - [2.4 Competency-Based Learning](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_24_competence.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.4) - [2.5 Challenge-Based Learning](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_25_challenge.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.5) - [2.6 Learning Assessment](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_26_assessment.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.6) - [2.7 Educational Chatbots](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_27_chatbots.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.7) - [2.8 Ethical and Legal Challenges](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_28_risks.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=2.8) **Closing** - [3.1 Closing](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_31_closing.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=3.1) **Annexes** - [4.1 Annex](https://edukors.org/book/read/md/en/file_41_aiwriting.md) (read online: https://edukors.org/book/read/?chapter=4.1) ## Maurício Garcia An independent digital scientist, he researches and develops artificial intelligence technologies focused on education, health and agriculture.
