# Documents and class materials, written with the help of AI > A text editor for teachers, with an A4 page and support from an AI assistant. Free and open source, for macOS, Windows and Linux. An app for writing lesson plans, activities and materials on an A4 page, without relying on online services or an office suite. The teacher writes and leads the document, with the support of an AI assistant for drafting, reviewing and formatting. Documents are kept in .etex files and exported to DOCX, PDF and Markdown. MIT License. macOS, Windows and Linux. Installers: [GitHub releases](https://github.com/mgarlabx/edukors_text_editor/releases/latest). ## From the first line to the finished document - **Formatted writing**: Headings, lists, quotes, code, links, fonts, colors and alignment, with Markdown shortcuts while typing. - **The page as in the PDF**: A continuous A4 page, with 20 mm margins and marks that show where each PDF page ends. - **Tables, shapes and images**: Tables with merged cells and fill, shapes from the Edukors catalog and images, resized and aligned right on the page. - **Find and replace**: Search with match case and whole words. Replacing keeps the formatting, and replace all is undone in a single step. - **AI assistant**: In a side panel, the teacher asks the assistant to write, rewrite, format or insert shapes and images. In review mode, each change waits for the teacher’s approval. - **A single .etex file**: Each document, with its images, shapes and conversations with the assistant, is kept in a single .etex file that opens with a double click. - **DOCX, PDF and Markdown**: Besides .etex, the document can be exported as DOCX, PDF and Markdown, for printing, sharing and editing in other programs. - **Privacy**: The app collects no data and has no telemetry. Documents stay on the computer, in .etex files. ## With the AI account the teacher already uses The assistant works with Claude Code or Codex, installed on the computer. The app stores no passwords or tokens; authentication stays with the tool itself. The AI accounts are shared with the other Edukors apps, and the conversations are saved inside the document. ## Free to use, adapt and contribute The app’s code is on GitHub, under the MIT license. It is part of a set of three Edukors apps, together with Slides and Graph, built on the same common foundation. - [Repository on GitHub](https://github.com/mgarlabx/edukors_text_editor)
